November STRIVEr: Chase Hanson
Our November STRIVEr, exemplified being a problem solver and exceeded expectations when his semi had mechanical difficulties. Read Chase’s nomination below to see how he responded when faced with trouble while on the road.
Nomination
“Chase was driving through rural Texas on a Friday when the engine of his truck suddenly lost power and died. Chase let the truck roll safely onto an off-ramp and came to a stop. He got out and inspected the truck for a reason why the engine had died. The truck had experienced a fuel system failure causing fuel to be drawn out of only one tank, running it empty. Chase called the shop but refused to have road service come. He said he was in walking distance from a fuel station, would get the diesel himself and then attempt to prime the fuel system. Being advised by the shop that priming the fuel system by hand was a long, hard job did not deter Chase. He casually replied, “I will set the timer on my phone for 20 minutes and run the hand pump until the alarm goes off.” After making two trips back and forth for fuel, Chase’s efforts were successful. The engine started, and he was able to get his truck to a shop to be repaired. Chase exceeded expectations to keep the truck and the load going down the road. Chase has only been with Stutsmans for a year but has proven himself to be a great driver.”
