Stutsman’s roots in transportation and trucking date back to the earliest times of our company. After starting a feed supply business in 1934, Eldon Stutsman received a loan from Hills Bank to purchase his first truck. This truck allowed Eldon to provide services in a new way he couldn’t before. As the feed business grew, so did the need for a fleet (albeit fairly small for many years) to distribute feed products to customers in Iowa and beyond. However, as Stutsmans grew and new opportunities arose, our transportation services also expanded to new avenues.
When it comes to our transportation and feed ingredients drivers, there’s no doubt that they exceed expectations and set the bar higher every day. Since the start of the million mile club in 2021, we’ve had 20 drivers reach the one-million-mile mark, five drivers hit two million miles, and one road warrior surpass three million miles.
Our November STRIVEr, exemplified being a problem solver and exceeded expectations when his semi had mechanical difficulties. Read Chase’s nomination below to see how he responded when faced with trouble while on the road.
Our mission to serve for success is made possible by employees who not only share our values but live them — employees who are driven, in this sense literally, to set the bar higher and exceed expectations. We’ve all been there: trying to catch a business before it closes. That’s exactly the story for a couple of our drivers last month. When they found out they couldn’t pick up their truck by closing time, they called on our August STRIVEr to help them out. By setting the bar higher and valuing collaboration, over-the-road driver Marty Watts didn’t hesitate to help them out.
Each summer we are fortunate enough to get a handful of future agriculturists. This summer is no exception as we welcome five students who will have the opportunity to apply their classroom learning in real-life situations. From the fields and the shop to the office and the road, we’re excited for them to begin their adventure as our 2022 intern class.More
