August STRIVEr: Marty Watts

We’ve all been there: trying to catch a business before it closes. That’s exactly the story for a couple of our drivers last month. When they found out they couldn’t pick up their truck by closing time, they called on our August STRIVEr to help them out. By setting the bar higher and valuing collaboration, over-the-road driver Marty Watts didn’t hesitate to help them out.

Nomination

“Just like many Stutsman employees, when asked to help out a fellow employee the word ‘no’ is not in Marty Watts’s vocabulary. We had a truck in Cheyenne, WY that was repaired, and our driver was en route to pick it up. However, the shop and gate for the repair shop closed at 9 p.m. and our driver wasn’t going to make it by then. Marty happened to be close by, so I called him to see if he could stop and move our truck to a truck stop. His reply was ‘yes’. Marty arrived but his ride to get back to his truck wasn’t there. Being 750 miles away from Hills, Marty took care of what needed to be done and checked with the dealer about the vacant lot next door. After finding out it was okay to park there, Marty moved our truck and trailer to the lot and locked it up. Our drivers arrived later, picked up the truck and kept on moving. Marty took time from his drive hours to help a fellow driver and our company keep the wheels turning. Thank you, Marty!”
