From wowing a customer with outstanding communication and service to canceling a day off to make sure freight got updated and booked, our May STRIVEr took the lead and adapted his schedule to make sure logistics customers were taken care of. Read how Brian Eichelberger’s expertise and flexibility earned him the May STRIVEr award.
“As a logistics special projects lead, Brian has account management responsibility for our two largest customers. Executing his job well takes an incredible amount of dedication and attention to detail. We had set up a meeting with one of our customers on April 27 in Maryland. Now Brian is not a salesman, but his operational expertise is exceptional. Not only was he well polished in our meeting, but the customer also heaped praise on his level of service and communication over the first six months of doing business with them. They made the comment, “I have never seen anyone like trucking so much!” The meeting resulted in them pulling additional business away from their internal transportation group and moving it to Stutsmans.
The results of the meeting were fantastic, but it was what transpired after the meeting that warrants special attention. Our meeting finished in the afternoon, and we weren’t close to any major airports, so Brian had to take a late flight to get home. After several delays, a cancellation, being rebooked and three connecting flights, Brian didn’t arrive in Des Moines until after 12:30 a.m. He had planned to take the 28th off to spend time with his family in Des Moines, however, while in Maryland there was a tremendous amount of freight that needed to be updated and booked into our system. So, after working and traveling for nearly 20 hours, Brian canceled his planned day off, drove from Des Moines to Cedar Rapids in the middle of the night, got two hours of sleep, and came into the office. We were all surprised to see Brian at his desk at his normal 6 a.m. start time and manage nearly a full day.
Brian has certainly exceeded expectations, set the bar higher, and radiated enthusiasm through a grueling schedule. His dedication is commendable, and our organization is stronger because of it! Thanks, Brian for all you do!”
