Employee Spotlight: Mike Strait

Through our Employee Spotlight blog series, learn more about the people who make up the Stutsman team. Meet Mike Strait, Manure Equipment Salesman. Everything from designing dairy setups and checking over equipment to making sure everything is running smoothly during the busy seasons falls under Mike’s purview. Mike joined the Stutsman team in 1994.
What is your background?
I have a pretty diverse background. I farmed (row crop and cow-calf operation), I had a lime truck, and worked at a grocery store and bank!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spending time playing with my grandkids.
What do you consider to be the most rewarding part of your job?
I like working with my fellow employees.
What has been the biggest change in the industry during your tenure here?
The scale of equipment and operations have definitely changed. When I started working here we were selling 3,000-gallon tanks and now they are usually 7300 gallons and up.
If you had to be a product you work with, what would it be and why?
Manure Magic; I make manure not stink.
What is your favorite thing about the ag industry?
Growing up in the ag industry makes you really appreciate all aspects of it. I think when you are in the ag industry it simply becomes a part of your blood.
If you had to eat the same food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Steak.
If you were stuck on an island, what 3 items would you bring?
Steak, wine and my wife.
What would be the title of your autobiography?
“How Not To…. For Dummies”
What is at the top of your bucket list?
Take the whole family (35 of us) to Mexico.
