Scout’s Honor Weekly Report: June 5-9
Our crop scouts were in the fields all week and as always they are excited to share their knowledge and findings from this past week and each week to come. *Every Friday during the summer we will feature their scouting reports on the blog and our social media accounts; check in to see what’s happening in our community. We look forward to seeing the changes in the agriculture world this time of year and hope that you find the information to be helpful!
Stand Counts
Corn stand counts have been very consistent. The soybean counts are variable, but will hopefully become consistent within the next week.
Stage
The corn has moved into V4 staging. Beans in southern territory are reaching V3, and beans in the northern territory are reaching V1 staging.
Plant Conditions
Corn is looking great! The soybeans have moderate damage from bean leaf beetles. Plants are not showing signs of drought stress, but are in need of rain.
Insects
Bean leaf beetles are on the rise in soybean fields. Armyworms are less evident this week.
Weeds
Most of the corn fields have been sprayed and soybeans are just starting to be sprayed. Wild parsnip is prevalent around the edges of fields and next to waterways. Pigweed is still an issue throughout the fields.
Territory Info
All territories are in need of rain. Fields are becoming more consistent across the board and less surprises are occuring.
Fun Facts
Cattle wrangling should be added to our crop scouting job description!
*Every Friday we will post The Scout’s Honor Scouting Report as long as there are new findings in the field.
