Welcome to the Team Tommy Pretz
Meet Tommy Pretz, our new feed ingredients customer service representative! A Columbus Junction, Iowa native, and a past 2019 agronomy intern, Tommy is no stranger to Stutsman’s.
In his role he will be helping with feed orders, communicating deliveries, and helping our feed purchasing team. We’re excited to have Tommy on board and the value his livestock experience brings to the team. Welcome, Tommy!
Tell us about your family.
My parents are Mike and Dayle, who were born and raised in Columbus Junction. I have two sisters, and I am expecting my first niece or nephew here soon.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy raising show pigs on my 15-head sow operation that I own and operate with my dad. I’m also very passionate about fitness and lifting and spend a bunch of my spare time in the gym.
How did you get involved in the agriculture industry?
I grew up on a small cow/calf operation where we artificially inseminated our cows mostly for show calves but also sold locker beef. I was also heavily involved in 4-H and FFA which sparked my interest in agriculture very early on.
What are you most excited about in your new role?
I’m most excited to build customer relationships and grow my network of people in the industry.
What is something random that most people don’t know about you?
I enjoy bodybuilding, singing, and playing the guitar.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Graduating from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in animal science.
What is on your bucket list?
I would like to visit all 50 states.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
A lot of things are out of your control, but the two things you can control are your attitude and effort.
Which Stutsman Core Value means the most to you?
Set the Bar Higher. To me setting the bar higher represents all of the core values. I feel with my personality I am always looking at how to take that next step to be better in everything I do.
