Welcome to the Team Liz Hickey
Stutsman Logistics is excited to welcome Liz Hickey to the SLI team! Since September, Liz, expedited account manager, has been helping customers win loads. Her love for creating new relationships and finding solutions for customers is at the top of her priority list. “There is nothing better than being able to be there for a customer and working together to meet their goals.”
Liz grew up in Chicago, IL and still calls the Windy City home. Although she holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Saint Louis University, she’s been in the logistics industry ever since graduating college. Liz took advantage of a leadership development program at a freight forwarder company and has been in logistics ever since.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Tell us about your hobbies? What are you passionate about?
Of all years, I decided to run the Chicago Marathon in 2020. Although it got postponed to 2021, running has become a hobby of mine. I love going to the forest preserves and lake front trails around the city. I am a diehard Cubs fan, so you can usually find me at Wrigley Field during the summers. I also love discovering new restaurants and trying new places with friends and family.
What do you consider to be the most rewarding part of your job OR what are you most excited for in your new job?
I enjoy creating new relationships and being able to create a solution for a customer when they feel like there are no more answers. There is nothing better than being able to be there for a customer and working together to meet their goals. The partnership created with a customer is most important to me.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Becoming a teammate that everyone can rely on. I pride myself on being able to do a little bit of everything, so I can help wherever help is needed. That goes for teammates and customers alike!
Who has influenced your career the most?
My dad shaped me into the career woman I am today. He had many jobs when I was growing up. He passed his drive and hardworking mindset onto me.
If you could snap your fingers and become an expert at something, what would it be?
Cars. I know absolutely nothing about cars, but I think it would be something I would enjoy.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
When I was in my first job out of college, I had a manager tell me to “use my resources” when I had certain questions. Now that might not have been the best advice, but it sure made me create relationships with people that I may never have talked to before and taught me to be self-sufficient. The answer will not always be given to you right away.
What is something random that most people do not know about you?
I love to bake. My family and I have a thing for desserts, and we are always trying out new recipes. It is a different type of challenge that I enjoy taking on.
What is on your bucket list?
To travel to Greece. Traveling is also one of my biggest hobbies, and Greece has always been # 1 on my list.
Which Stutsman Core Value means the most to you?
Exceed Expectations. Anyone can meet a goal but being able to go above and beyond for someone shows dedication and commitment.
