Ultimate Fly Control With the New CTI 14% Protein Altosid® IGR Tub with Garlic
Cattle producers are finally admiring their cow-calf pair filled pastures after a tough winter. While this spring warmth is nice, producers know what also comes with higher temperatures; flies. Soon the flies will be taking over and calling cattle pastures home. Thankfully, fly control is a breeze with CTI 14% Protein Altosid® IGR Tub with Garlic.
Importance of Fly Control
Flies are more than just a slight nuisance in the summer. These pests disturb cattle grazing and have negative effects to both cows and their calves. To avoid flies, cattle bunch up and move in packs, instead of grazing throughout the pasture. This reduced grazing decreases cow milk production, resulting in lower weaning weights for calves. Flies also spread pinkeye which is detrimental to both weight gain and value come sale time.
About CTI 14% Protein Altosid® IGR Tub with Garlic
There’s no doubt fly control is a necessity to cattle producers. But why choose CTI 14% Protein Altosid® IGR Tub with Garlic? The newest CTI tub to the Stutsman line harnesses the power of Altosid® and garlic for ultimate fly control. Just like other insect growth regulators (IGR), Altosid® is passed through to the manure where it prevents the larvae from developing into adults. While the environmentally safe Altosid® cuts down on future horn fly populations, the garlic is working to keep present flies away. As the garlic is absorbed into the fluid around the eyes and mouth, it repels pesky face flies, the prime culprits in the spread of pinkeye.
On top of fly prevention, the CTI 14% Protein Altosid® IGR Tub with Garlic has chelated trace minerals and 454 Spice Mix. Not only does this help increase conception rates and improve disease resistance in cows but it also results in higher weaning weights and reduced heat stress. Plus, the tub’s molasses base increases forage digestibility and boosts palatability. This nutritional value combined with the convenience of a tub, makes the CTI 14% Protein Altosid® IGR Tub with Garlic a popular fly control option and a great addition to our product line.
Feeding Directions
Start feeding CTI 14% Protein Altosid® IGR Tub with Garlic in the spring before the fly season begins, and continue feeding it throughout the summer. We also suggest pairing it with a chelated mineral program. Each cow is expected to consume 8 ounces per day. Do not feed this product to sheep or similar species with a low copper tolerance, or to lactating dairy cows.
