Finding good help has been an issue that’s plagued farmers, livestock producers, and custom pumpers alike, long before the rest of the economy was hit with the abundance of jobs and shortage of labor. Tack on the long hours, breakneck pace, and seasonality, it becomes even more challenging to find people willing to join a custom manure crew.

Just like many other challenges in life, this problem has led some custom pumping customers to look for solutions to get the work done with fewer people. Over the past few years, the capacity capabilities of Nuhn Quad-Trains have been the answer to the labor shortage issue for a handful of customers.

Although Quad-Trains are two separate tanks, they are connected by Nuhn’s patented coupling system to work like a single spreader, hence the namesake. With capacities maxing out at 16,000 gallons (the most popular with our customers have been the 13,500 and the 16,000), it’s no wonder those that are shorthanded are finding this set-up appealing.
