Peer-nominated and representative of our core values, each month we get to celebrate a Stutsman employee through our STRIVEr program.
Our July STRIVEr is Truck Shop Administrator Ellis Smith! He is constantly going above and beyond to keep our over-the-road drivers rolling.
Set the Bar Higher, Take the Lead, Radiate Enthusiasm, Instill Authenticity, Value Collaboration& Exceed Expectations
“We had a truck break down in Hershey, NE at 2:30 am on a Sunday. Ellis took a spare truck to exchange with the driver, allowing the driver to make his delivery on time. Ellis then brought the partially disabled truck back to the shop for repair. This action kept our delivery on schedule for the customer, helped our driver a make a paycheck, and kept our dispatch team rolling.
No matter the time or day, Ellis consistently goes out of his way to make sure the drivers’ shop needs are met. New drivers have often expressed their appreciation for Ellis, as he calls them from time to time to check in and make sure everything is working smoothly for them. Ellis exceeds expectations in his job and we’re thankful to have him on our team.”
Ellis was nominated twice for the STRIVEr, which is a true testament of his willingness to serve for success. In his second nomination, a new driver needed his windshield replaced. Ellis had everything prearranged which allowed the driver to come straight to the shop in Hills, and the repair did not affect his working time. The new driver appreciated how Ellis was very welcoming and radiated enthusiasm.
Thanks for all you do Ellis!

Stutsman Core Values
Set the Bar Higher
The agriculture industry’s core foundation is based on innovation and adaptation. In order to stay on the forefront of the industry and continue to grow as a company, it is imperative that we remain open to new ideas, concepts, and methods with optimism. By being proactive and challenging the status quo, we can continue to move the standard in the right direction.
Take the Lead
No matter the task, no matter the position, we have an attitude of ownership and sense of initiative. The ability to make decisions with the company’s well-being in mind, as well as having the accountability to follow through with getting the job done, are traits conducive to success. Taking the lead includes questioning actions that are not consistent with our mission and values.
Attitudes are extremely contagious, so it is crucial we have ones worthy of catching. By being a “carrier” for optimism and enthusiasm we create an enjoyable and rewarding atmosphere.
Being authentic is not just about being true to ourselves but upholding integrity in every aspect of life. Being honest, doing the right thing, and holding ourselves accountable in all that we say and do are true measures of a genuine person and company.
Maximizing teamwork and communication across the entire company is essential to overall success. By keeping our communication open and honest while breaking down internal barriers, we can foster unity, understanding, and overall productivity. After all, “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.” -Henry Ford.
In 1934 Eldon Stutsman made service the cornerstone of the company, and after all this time, exceptional service still defines who we are. Whether it’s our co-workers, our vendors, or especially our customers, we are driven to exceed their expectations.
