Getting an Edge with the Latest in the Phantom Line
Introduced last Fall 2020 with sales beginning in Spring 2021, the new Bazooka Farmstar Phantom Edge injection unit joins the Phantom product line in putting a large volume of manure in the ground while being environmentally friendly.
“The Phantom Edge’s enhanced injection is suitable for 20,000-plus GPA applications,” said Sam Smith, manure equipment sales.
The Edge Series creates a wider trench than the original Phantom unit allowing for the increased volume. The trench is created by the new Edge Series’ serrated, concave main blade that can easily cut through residue and soil compaction.
“The concave main blade creates a bigger trench to apply higher volumes,” said Smith. “While the closure arm and blade effectively replaces the loose soil for thorough coverage.”
Compared to the original Phantom, the 18” concaved Phantom Edge closure blade is notched and mounted on an updated closure arm. The new blade design covers the trenches and leaves little to no liquid above ground.
The Phantom Edge injection units are also retrofittable for existing tankbars and toolbars equipped with the original Phantom units. The low-maintenance Phantom design that has been praised since its inception, is also carried over to the Phantom Edge with quick-change hub and spindles.
“Replacing blades from the original Phantom to the Phantom Edge can easily be done,” said Smith. “The serviceability of the injection unit is just a few bolts to replace the blades.”
Overall, the Phantom Edge can limit soil disturbance, reduce nitrogen volatilization, lessen the chance of runoff and cut down on odors compared to other high-rate injection units on the market.
While the goal was to accommodate higher GPA application rates, Bazooka Farmstar found that the Phantom Edge was also able to effectively apply lower volumes just as successfully.
