Although the agriculture industry and our products/services may change over the years, one consistent factor remains; our employees are one of the most important ingredients in our recipe for success. Through our Employee Spotlight Blog Series, learn about the people who make up the Stutsman team. Tom Kouba has worked in the Feed Warehouse since 1991! He prepares feed orders and is a smiling face to our feed customers. Let’s get to know Tom through his Q & A below!
What is your background?
I lived just outside of Hills until I was nine years old, then moved to Oxford. After graduating from Clear Creek High School, I attended Kirkwood Community College for Hog and Beef Production. I worked for various farmers in the area and at the Oxford Sale Barn before coming to Stutsmans.
What do you enjoying doing in your spare time?
I enjoy baling hay, working cattle, and dancing with pretty girls! I also like spending time with horses; helping with draft horse pulls, team penning, and riding.
What do you consider to be the most rewarding part of your job?
I really like meeting people and learning more about their operations.
What is something random most people don’t know about you?
I have worked at the Oxford Sale Barn since I was 14, and I still help with their special sales!
If you had to eat the same food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Eggs, steak, pork chops, or ham.
If you were stuck on an island, what 3 items would you bring?
A saddle horse, a dog, and a pack mule.
What’s on your bucket list?
I want to to go Menomonie, Wisconsin to watch friends in the National Draft Horse and Pony Pull!
What has been the biggest change in the industry during your tenure here?
There are a lot more hog confinements than there used to be.
If you had to be a product you work with, what would it be and why?
I would be corn because it’s a big part of cattle and hog diets.
What is your favorite thing about the agriculture industry?
Getting to work with neighbors and at the Oxford Sale Barn!
