Applying manure on rough terrain certainly comes with challenges. A major issue is the added stress on the tank and units with a stationary tank bar. When a field is contour-heavy and requires many turns of the tractor and tank, a standard tank bar is forced sideways with each turn, adding stress to the bearings, coulter blades, mounts, and pivot points. This added stress can cause the lugs and bolts to break on tank mountings and stress fractures/cracks to form on the tank bar’s metal attachments, which means more breakdowns and part replacements. If you apply a lot of rough, heavily contoured acres, you may want to consider a Bazooka Farmstar Ground Tracker Series swiveling tank bar.
While a standard tank bar has all row units mounted on one straight bar, the Ground Tracker Series holds two phantom injection units per mount. This clevis-style mount allows each pair of row units to swivel 30 degrees in both directions. Ultimately, this allows the row units to follow the tank and move with the contour of the ground, reducing strain on equipment. The swiveling tank bar is compatible with any GEA models and other spreaders.
In addition to a narrow transport width of 13’, hydraulic travel locks make for an easy transition from road to field. The travel locks are sequenced with the wing-fold cylinders, so the locks automatically retract when the tank bar is unfolded. When it’s time to fold up the tank bar, the locks come back to center, keeping the swivel mounts in place during travel.
Here’s a few other specs:
- Available in eight or ten row units with 24”-30” row spacing
- Built with heavy-duty steel side arm and wings
- Greased hinge tubes
- Steel hose holder for drop hoses
- Handles rates ranging from 2,500 to 15,000 GPA
