When Times Get Tough, Don’t Stop Supplementing
By: Biozyme Inc.
Supplementation programs should continue to be important building blocks for cowherd nutrition programs even during belt-tightening times. It is during these lean times that getting the most ‘bang for your buck’ becomes even more critical when selecting which, how much and what supplements to feed.
The cow operations that continue using solid supplementation programs, regardless of the state of the cattle market, will be making management decisions that produce profits, said Twig Marston, Technical Sales Field Manager at BioZyme Inc., leaders in natural supplements for all species of livestock.More

It is important to keep in mind what worked well for you this past year and maybe some things that need improvement. The question is how are you evaluating whether a certain product or practice was a success or not? Are you basing only on the average yield of the field?More

Closing Out 2016 Crop Year….Yeah, Right!
By: Katie McWhirter, Precision Ag Specialist
What a fantastic fall it has been; wonderful weather and a predominantly uneventful, safe harvest! These are certainly things that I am thankful for! I had a chemical rep in my office last week waiting to talk to Steve. He asked what I do. So, I gave my elevator speech to him. Of course, he asked what I’ve been seeing. I have to hide my smile when people ask me this. I tell him about after four years, we’re just now starting to really dig deep into the data that we’ve been collecting in order to try to figure out a field’s yield-limiting factor.More

Spread Holiday Cheer
The holidays are always a special time of year; feelings of thanks and generosity seem to become more evident than they are the rest of the year. During the holiday season, it has become a tradition to extend our kindness to the community through a food/donation drive for the Crisis Center of Johnson County. According to the 2015 United States Census, 15.9% of Johnson County’s population lives below the poverty line. That’s higher than the national average! Whether it’s putting food on the table, providing emotional support over the phone, or giving financial assistance to keep the heat on, the Crisis Center of Johnson County is truly a great asset to our community.
Help us spread holiday cheer (pun intended) by filling our manure spreader in the retail center with non-perishable food items and financial donations through December 22nd.More
